How We Make Every Piece

The Craft Behind It

How We Make Every Piece

  • Mixing the Metal

    Mixing the Metal

Copper and zinc are melted together in a furnace to form brass. The molten metal is cast into sheets or blocks, ready to be worked by hand.

  • Shaping by Hand

    Shaping by Hand

Artisans cut, beat and turn the metal into shape over anvils and wooden moulds. Every curve is formed by hand, which gives each piece its strength and character.

  • Polishing & Etching the Motif

    Polishing & Etching the Motif

Each piece is polished to bring out brass's warm golden glow. Artisans then etch traditional motifs into the surface by hand, so no two designs are exactly alike.

  • Quality Check

    Quality Check

Every piece is checked for finish, weight, balance and strength before it's packed. Only pieces that meet our standard leave the workshop.

Good to Know

Everything You're Wondering

Everything You're Wondering
How do I brew filter coffee with this?

Add 2–3 tablespoons of filter coffee powder to the upper chamber and place the press disc on top. Pour in freshly boiled water, cover, and let it drip for 15–20 minutes. Mix the decoction with hot milk and sugar to taste.

Which coffee powder should I use?

Use South Indian filter coffee powder, ideally a coffee-chicory blend, ground medium-fine. Very fine powder blocks the filter, and coarse powder makes a weak decoction.

Why is the decoction dripping too slowly or too fast?

If it's too slow, the powder is too fine or pressed too hard. If it's too fast, the powder is too coarse or there's too little of it. Adjust the grind or quantity until it takes about 15–20 minutes.

Can I heat the brewer on a stove?

No. The brewer is for dripping hot water through coffee, not for heating. Boil the water separately and pour it in.

Why does it turn dark?

It ages naturally, like good leather does. That darkening is actually protective, not damage. It is called Patina, oxidation of metal.

How do I clean it?

Wash it by hand with mild soap and a soft sponge, and dry it immediately. Don't use steel scrubbers, harsh cleaners or a dishwasher.
