The Kansa Advantage

Kansa. Because some things don't need reinventing.

  • Ayurveda Lab Certified 4:1
    Pure copper-tin blend

80% copper + 20% tin: the exact bronze formula Ayurveda has trusted for centuries as the ideal metal for daily dining.

  • Purity
    Lab-certified pure

Every batch is lab-tested for lead, cadmium and other toxins, so it's certified safe for your family to eat off every day.

  • Ayurveda
    Digestion-friendly metal

Copper is naturally antimicrobial. In Ayurveda, eating from Kansa is believed to aid digestion and help your body absorb nutrients better.

  • Craft
    Handcrafted always

Every piece is shaped by an artisan's hands, with no molds and no shortcuts, using skills passed down over three generations.

  • Durability
    Ages with grace

Kansa naturally darkens with use. This isn't wear and tear, it's a protective layer that makes each piece more unique over time.

  • Heritage
    60 Years of Family Craft

Three generations of one Rishikesh family, shaping bronze the same way for their own kitchens, now brought to yours.

Good to Know

Everything You're Wondering

Everything You're Wondering
Is this actually real Kansa?

Yes, it's real. We have it lab-tested to prove it's pure copper and tin.

Is it safe to eat from?

Completely safe. No lead, no cadmium, nothing harmful. Safe for kids and your whole family.

How do you test that it's safe to eat from?

We test what comes out of the thali and into your food, not just what's in it. Our kansa is tested against the EDQM food-contact limits. EDQM is the Council of Europe body that sets how much of each metal a utensil is allowed to release into food.

The lab fills the piece with a mild acid that behaves like lemon, curd or tamarind, leaves it for a set time at a set temperature, then measures how much lead, cadmium, copper and tin moved into that liquid. Each one has to stay under its EDQM limit. That's the standard we stick to. What's in your food is what ends up in you.

Some brands show a RoHS certificate. Isn't that enough?

RoHS is the test your TV passed. It's an EU rule for electronics like TVs, laptops and cables, and it only checks that the metal has under 0.1% lead inside it. It says nothing about what ends up in your dal. A thali isn't a circuit board, so we test it like a thali: against the EDQM (Council of Europe) food-contact limits, which measure what actually moves from the metal into your food.

Can I put it in the dishwasher?

Hand-wash only. It takes a minute and keeps it beautiful for decades.

Why does it turn dark?

It ages naturally, like good leather does. That darkening is actually protective, not damage. It is called Patina, oxidation of metal.

Why is Veda Essentials Kansa 80:20?

Our Kansa follows the exact 4:1 ratio, 80% Copper + 20% Tin, in line with the classical Ayurvedic formulation we follow.

How is 80:20 different from 78:22?

80:20 is the precise 4:1 ratio. 78:22 shifts the composition to ~3.5:1, making it different from the formulation we follow.

How long will it last?

Decades, easily. Maybe your grandkids will cook on it. That's how long we build for.

What if I change my mind?

You have 7 days from delivery to return it for a full refund, no questions asked.
